the race that stops the nation

Today marked my first trip to the Melbourne Cup. You must give props to a city that gives a public holiday for a horse race.
The vibe was great and best of all, I picked the winning horse! This was a first for me and meant I could shout my sister dinner.
I found this vintage fascinator at a store years ago but only now managed to style it in a race day outfit. With the gloves on I felt elegant and classy, as though I was channelling the gorgeous Audrey herself!

The pearls are in fact real, passed down as an eighteenth present from my Nanna. I'd bought the dress earlier in the year for my sister's Deb Ball and had been looking for another excuse to wear it. It's from the brand Revival.

I popped the black netting in to tie the fascinator in with the black of the dress.

I threw the blazer on at the last minute as the weather didn't let up until the afternoon.
