Crazy Town

So life is always crazy, but it feels a little crazier than usual at the moment. I just finished two essays and have another mountain of uni work threatening to collapse on top of me. And the fact that it's nearly easter as well just seems rude.

But all work and no play is no way to live. Friday night my mum, my sister and I stayed at Crown Casino in Melbourne to celebrate my sister's 18th birthday. It was amazing fun and the next day we took a detour on the way home to a massive vintage sale in Collingwood. While we were there they started slashing prices - two dresses for $10, ah thank you! I came away with four dresses, three tops and a jumpsuit for a measly $40. Only one dress is a little small, but I have a friend I think will love it.

Earlier in the week I'd hit up Retro Star for a dress for the occasion. While at the register I spotted these tortoise and the hare ear rings. How could I leave them behind.

Photobucket is not playing nicely, so photos of my other (numerous) purchases this week will have to wait.

Saver Sunday

This morning Reece and I headed to a couple of local markets. Reece was on the look out for a bike for a client and I just love markets in general. However we found little to get excited about as most people were packing up because of the rain or hadn't come out at all. Luckily we also hit up our local Savers store where I scored a bunch of cloths for just $15 all up with my student discount.

I also signed up for a club card while I was there, so hopefully my Savers visits will be on the rise.

Defining me

As I headed back to uni last week, I began to have a bit of a style crisis. For a while I'd been happy wearing whatever genre I pleased, but lately I've begun to feel I desperately need a style.

Happily, this was all remedied by a round of the local op shops where I found a number of pieces that just screamed me. Among them was this little black skirt and sparkly striped cardigan with shoulder pads. As I tried on these and a couple of other pieces it came together for me. Quirky, bold patterns, occasional vintage piece, feminine.

Though I know my personal style will always be evolving, I feel that these elements will remain a solid foundation.

My course load for uni this semester is quite heavy, though hugely interesting. I'm off to re-immerse myself in health care ethics and caring for children.

Purple Heart

While I'm finding them a bit difficult to style and to me they aren't the most comfortable item of clothing, I still love my purple jeans. In a perfect world they'd be a little higher waisted and a smidge less restricting, but those are my issues with jeans as a whole.

I like them enough though, that I'm considering purchasing these babies from asos. They seem like a perfect winter stable. Rich colour and easy to layer.

Lone Star

As a result of shift work, more often then not my weekend occurs across a few weekdays. While it is nice to sleep in while others are moaning about early starts it does have a number of downfalls. Such as having no one to go on adventures and lunch dates with. While I'm usually content to potter around the house cleaning or watching bad daytime TV, the presence of a number of builders constructing a deck at the moment takes away some of the tranquility. Today I spent a few hours wandering around op shops and bought my self lunch from my favourite local cafe.

rearranging

i've just sat down after rearranging my bedroom. i quite like it. the bed is now the central feature as it should be and it can be accessed from both sides which is good feng shui. i am also now sitting at my desk which i was unable to do before and should be better for my back as i won't be hunching over my laptop on my bed.
as promised here is the coat i purchased the other day for just $3. i love half price sales at opshops.
Photobucket
and here is what i am wearing today to go shopping for boring things for my holiday and have coffee with a friend.
Photobucket
i have noticed changes are a bit of a trend at the moment within the fashion blog community. everyone seems to be moving house, rearranging places and starting new projects. i'm very excited for everyone who is brave enough to inject something new into their lives. i am a very big believer in the saying change is like a holiday.

sunday fun

today the boy and i made the most of a clear sunny day and headed into melbourne with our bikes in the car. we unloaded them at the botanical gardens and rode along southbank. my bike is this gorgeous old graecross the boy found in a hard rubbish pile and polished up for me. i love, though it just needs a wicker basket on the front.
the only shop we went to was retro star where i bought a gorgeous dress which i can tell is going to be a summer staple.
we watched a busker who juggled a chainsaw and then swallowed a sword whilst juggling fire - amazing yet scary at the same time. he also did that strange ball juggling that david bowie does in the labirynth.
after lunch we found a patch of grass to lie on and soak up the sun. it was one of those crisp days where spring just pops its head up to let you know it's on it's way
