Meet Mick

Allow me to introduce Mick. He is Reece's dog. They're best mates. He was found on the street years ago and had developed issues in first one eye and then the other. They both had to be removed. He's starting to get on bit, but he gets around fine and has a really good quality of life. He's an all around mad dog.

He's also an easy animal to get photos of because he just chills and doesn't try to head butt the camera. I tend to prefer larger dogs, but Mick's pretty awesome.

Zoo Fun

Yesterday my sister and I went to the Zoo. Much fun and cute animal watching was had by all.

It was a bordering-on-scorching 35 degrees so I wore a sun-smart, safari inspired out fit.
shirt dress: vintage via eBay, hat: laura ashley via op shop, sunnies: my new Bill Bass prescriptions

We brought a picnic.

And made new friends.

In all seriousness, the Melbourne Zoo is really great for conservation work and encouraging care for the environment. The habitats are amazing and I even bought some really nice eco-friendly crockery from the store as well as the awesome elephant tote in the outfit photo. And a meer cat for Reece.

Packaderm

So I'm feeling quite blog-savvy at the moment as not only do I have a outfit post with photos I'm getting more and more proud of every day, I have another outfit post on the back burner as well as ideas brewing for some more posts on this and that. With my number of views always rising, all I need is a few more followers - and maybe a giveaway - to feel like a real grown up fashion blogger.

I wore this yesterday after work and was told a looked indian, works for me. This top has survived a number of wardrobe cleanses, mainly because the elephant is pretty darn awesome, also because I like the drapery of the sleeve. I give myself extra props for outfits that involve two pieces, rather than just a dress. I find it takes more thought and dallying to mix and match.

Sherry weather

I bought a new lipstick the other day. It's actually the first lipstick I've ever bought with intention of wearing it almost daily, not just for special events or calisthenics competitions. It's from Rimmel and is called 'drop of sherry'. If that's not the most old lady sounding lipstick you have ever heard, please share.

I don't know if I have mentioned that I am a vegetarian before(I do eat fish though, or I get sick). As a result I try to be as conscious as possible about cosmetic and beauty brands that test on animals and avoid leather where ever possible(I tend to cheat by considering second hand leather okay). I am in no way perfect about this, but my general rule of thumb is if it doesn't state it is animal friendly on the packaging, stay away. However Rimmel are friendly people and are nice to our animal friends without boasting about it on their packaging(as are Revlon). PETA has a comprehensive data base of friendly products here.

I am wearing a target top over a mink pink maxi dress. Yay for sunny days interspersed with stormy evenings to keep things interesting.
